Transforming Bathrooms into Inviting Spas
/Design Inspiration: Modern Rustic Replaces Old Pine
A well-designed bathroom gives out a different feel. Imagine, instead of getting in-and-out, you actually want to spend time there.
For this Tahoe Donner remodel, senior interior designer, Janet Tight, worked with our client to remodel their master bath and 2 guest baths with warm earthy tones, subtle textures, and a minimalist approach.
To maximize the master bath footprint, we took out the diagonal countertop and two vanities. This allowed us to expand the shower, creating an open concept. The shower is now large enough that the glass partition is all they need to keep the water out.
We also built a custom towel storage area underneath the “bench" which also serves as a divider between the wet area and the main part of the bath. To create an airy feel, we suspended the mirror away from the backsplash and installed lighting behind it. We also added under-counter lighting – creating a fun romantic or spa-like feel.
Below, for the guest baths, we used ‘budget friendly’ large format tile to emulate the Venetian plaster look of the master bath.
This client was really fun to work with because they were open to unique ideas.
