Closets That Make You Proud
/Design Inspiration: Turning scary closets into bright and elegant spaces
I'd say 90% of the closets I see in clients' homes are inefficient and not maximizing storage space. They are disorganized with unrelated items grouped together (and, often just thrown in!). When I have the opportunity to revamp and redesign these areas, I love how the finished solution makes a huge difference in our clients’ lives. Suddenly it becomes a resource area where they’re not afraid to open the door, or feel like they have to start digging to find what they need.
We recently worked with a couple in Glenshire, Truckee to remodel their entire Master Suite, including the closet, which was a traditional reach-in style with a simple pole for hanging clothes. They wanted something highly functional that wouldn’t take over the room or disrupt the room’s aesthetics.
We first assessed their habits and the purpose of the closet which influenced the organizational design. We also used few tricks of the trade allowing us to double the storage space, like deepening the footprint and creating an organization system. We took out the entire closet structure including the header and inset a completely new piece of furniture which was a whole cabinetry ensemble that became the closet.
For this project we worked with Tom McElroy of Twin Timbers Construction who built this whole new cabinetry system bringing this closet into the 21st century not only with its sleek exterior, but its highly efficient interior.
Here are just a few of the benefits of a custom closet:
Styled to your unique taste
Gain shelves, drawers, and more hanging
Laid out to look and feel like a boutique
Increases the storage capacity of the space
“What we ended up with exceeded all of our expectations. An amazingly functional design with more storage space that blends beautifully into the room. With the stunning craftsmanship of Tom coupled with DesignBar’s vision – we ended up with an amazing piece of built-in furniture that really complements the rest of the master suite remodel.” – Jon & Sally
